AIFY Success Coach

All In For Youth (AIFY) supports youth to stay engaged in their education and be successful in school. All In For Youth Success Coaches provide students the opportunity to create meaningful relationships with a diverse group of supportive adults. Through case management, coaching and mentorship, Success Coaches and students set and work toward common goals. Tom Bald, our Success Coach, has an office in Student Services. 

Alex Youth Centre Bus

It’s a doctor’s office on wheels. This is a great resource for students to access mental and medical support along with referrals to community resources and services. The Bus is here at CHHS on Mondays and will be here weekly once they get their start-up settled in mid-October. Students sign up with QR code on D2l, IG or signs in Guidance/classrooms.

Alex Youth Therapist

Students age 16+ can meet with an Alex Therapist in Guidance for a free one-time session (50 minutes). They’ll also be able to transition to the Youth Centre if students would like additional free sessions (up to 12). They will be here biweekly on Mondays. Students sign up with a QR code on D2l, IG or signs in Guidance/classrooms. 

Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids

BB4CK has provided nutritious lunches to kids who do not arrive at school with the food they need to succeed. Students who need lunch can discreetly pick up at lunchtime in Room 212 (our Connect/SPL room). This room is also open for students to eat lunch in as well. 

CIWA 1:1 Counselling

This program provides confidential, culturally sensitive one-on-one counselling services to clients, with first language support available. Students are provided the knowledge and confidence to actively engage in the community and the opportunity to come together to increase self-esteem and self-confidence and build stronger support networks. Open to girls 13-24 years old with Permanent Resident (PR) status. See your counsellor to sign up.

CIWA Immigrant Girls, Boys and More

This program works with 14-—to 18-year-olds of all genders and immigration statuses. It offers one-on-one supportive counselling. See your counsellor to sign up.

CBFY

The Calgary’s Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) supports immigrant and refugee youth and their families with knowledge and information about Canadian culture and schooling system. Our experienced staff and program facilitators help children and youth make lasting friendships through programs that grow their personal, social and emotional skills while helping them settle into life in Canada. CBFY is here Mondays and Wednesdays. Location: Quiet Area – Learning Commons 

RICS Refugee & Immigrant Counseling in Schools

It is a confidential and free counselling program designed for refugee and immigrant experiences. It can be one-time or longer. See your counsellor to sign up. 

YMAP

is a FREE afterschool program for newcomer youth, including refugee youth, international students, permanent residents, and second- generation Canadians. Our youth meet once a week under the mentorship of a YMAP Coordinator to discuss topics related to healthy integration. We help build a supportive and healthy community for young newcomers while teaching essential skills related to economic, social, cultural, and political integration. Our program includes job preparation, an orientation into Canadian culture, volunteering and giving back to the community, and leadership development. We hold special events throughout the year. Youth also receive a FREE YMCA membership while they are in YMAP for use at any of our facilities. We also have scholarship opportunities specific to Grade 12 YMAP participants. Tuesdays 4-6pm Room 237. 

YMCA Tutoring Table

As a part of the United Way’s All in for Youth initiative, the program aims to remove the financial barrier of private tutoring to assist students in passing their registered math courses. Applications open online in the fall. CHHS is one of the sites available. https://www.ymcacalgary.org/tutoring-table-program All high school students who need math and/or science support can apply. Priority will be given to students from All-In-For Youth high schools and/or students with low math grades or financial challenges.
