2025/2026 Student Timetables

Classes at Crescent Heights this year are full; therefore it is difficult for counsellors to adjust timetables. Students are asked to ensure that guidelines below are adhered to before submitting a request.

Students will have a very limited opportunity to request a change to their timetable in late August-early September. The course change request form will only be open until midnight on Monday, September 8th and will open in mid-August when timetables are released. The school will email when this happens***  Once you have submitted your request you will not be able to change, or submit it again.  Please do not email your counsellor as they will contact you as needed. CHHS Course Change Request Form

Change requests will be reviewed in the following priority order:

1. You are missing a prerequisite class (for example you did not pass Science 10 and are registered for Biology 20).

2. You completed a summer course.

3. Other – not listed above. This includes students requesting to drop a course and not requesting a new course to be added (Grade 11/12 students only. Grade 11s may have one half OR full spare and Grade 12s may have one each semester.)

It is important to note that very few changes will be granted as timetables have been reviewed and corrected. We do have a waitlist that we work through regularly and will add students if space(s) open up but this may not be possible. Counsellors can help map out alternative high school planning if you need support after classes settle to help students figure out a new plan. All change requests must be submitted through the fillable Course Change Request Form that will be sent out in August. Please do not email your counsellor.

Important Guidelines:

1. All schedules are subject to change as we balance class sizes.

2. Changes will not be made based on switching to a specific teacher (or switching out of a specific teacher's class).

3. Teaching assignments often change; the teacher listed on a student’s timetable may not be the teacher when the class begins.

4. Courses cannot be moved to different periods due to extra-curricular student commitments and/or spare preferences. Students are expected to be available to attend all periods during the school day.

5. Counsellors will only contact a student if there are questions regarding their schedule. Students are asked to please be patient and check PowerSchool often for changes to their schedule once they have submitted a request form.

6.  If a counsellor needs to see a student in person to discuss timetable concerns, a lunchtime placeholder called "See Counsellor" will be added to their schedule. Only students with a ‘See Counsellor’ note will be seen during the first few days of school. Counsellors will call these students out of class to review and fix any timetable conflicts.

Grade 10 Course Changes: Grade 10 students were placed in courses based on their middle schools’ recommendations and complementary courses in which we had spaces. Please check your schedule often as we work through our waitlist daily until the end of the first week of classes if we popped you on one for any final corrections. We will call students out of classes if they have "see counsellor" on their timetable for any corrections/questions we may have. Students must stay in classes they transferred for if this is not their designated high school.

Through case management, coaching and mentorship, Success Coaches and students set and work toward common goals. All In For Youth Success Coaches support students by identifying, navigating, and/or removing barriers to school completion, ensuring access to basic needs, addressing academic needs, and connecting to other physical and emotional supports. Success Coaches also support students in connecting to post-secondary and employment resources and funding opportunities.

Coaches work alongside United Way partners, community supports, school administration, and counsellors, as well as student learning teams to identify students who might require AIFY supports in helping them find the best path forward.

Resource teachers are also involved in the creation of Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) which help build an awareness of the learning process in order to help students become more positive and active independent learners. Referrals may be made by students, parents, teachers or counsellors.

Students who are Applying for Accommodations

Parents/guardians of students who require an assessment or reassessment need to follow the guidelines listed below.

Ensure that your student’s Crescent Heights High School counsellor receives all the required documentation; this could include a psychological assessment or a psycho-educational assessment completed by a registered psychologist OR a Physician’s (Audiologist, Ophthalmologist or other licensed specialist such as a Psychiatrist) letter.

If a letter is provided, the following should be included:

  • A clearly defined diagnosis or condition (using DSM - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Diagnosis/Criteria).
  • Indication of the implications of that diagnosis with respect to recommendations for accommodations for student learning.
  • A clear statement of the academic and/or examination accommodations that are recommended or prescribed as a result of the diagnosis or condition.
  • When accommodations are requested for medical reasons, a treatment plan must be included in the letter pertaining to educational purposes and student learning.
  • The letter should be:
  • On letterhead
  • State the student’s name and birth date
  • Include the date
  • Physician’s, Psychiatrist’s or Psychologist’s signature

Some physicians may request payment for a letter, which is the responsibility of the student/parent. Every effort will be made to expedite the accommodations and IPP process upon receipt of the official documentation
