2025-2026 Tryout Schedules

Student-athletes shoulder a unique set of expectations that go beyond their academic responsibilities. They are not only required to do well in the classroom but also on the field, court, or track. These young individuals are expected to maintain a high level of discipline, commitment, and time management. They must strike a balance between rigorous training schedules, competitions, and their academic coursework.
Furthermore, student-athletes are often looked upon as role models, expected to display sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership both on and off the athletic field. This dual commitment can be challenging, but it offers valuable life lessons in perseverance, responsibility, and the importance of hard work. Ultimately, student-athlete expectations are a testament to the holistic development that sports can provide, emphasizing not just physical prowess but also character building and personal growth.

Athlete Contract 2025-2026
Athletes must abide by the following contract.
Congratulations on being chosen as a member of the Crescent Heights team!
We have one major expectation of our athletes at Crescent: COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE. We expect our athletes to demonstrate excellence in four specific areas: attendance, academics, character, citizenship, and sportsmanship. Your signature at the bottom of this contract, along with that of your parent/guardian signifies your acceptance and willingness to adhere to the expectations outlined below.
- You are expected to attend and be on time for all of your classes (unless excused). Unexcused absences and/or unexcused lates will result in a discussion with your coach and the Athletic Director and may result in you being ineligible to play. You are expected to communicate with your coach if you are going to miss practice/games/tournaments for any reason. You are expected to communicate with your teachers in regard to attendance.
- You are expected to demonstrate leadership and cooperation in your classes. All teachers should know that they count on you to demonstrate a positive attitude and a high level of citizenship and to do your best at all times.
- You are expected to perform to the best of your ability academically. You are required to be accountable for your academic well-being. You need to apply yourself and take advantage of the opportunities provided to you by your teachers, for your academic success.
- As an athlete, you are representing yourself and Crescent at all times. Our expectation is that you will never speak to an official unless your coach has asked you to respectfully address a specific issue. Your conduct on the floor/field will be exemplary at all times. This means you do not draw attention to yourself or embarrass your team, coach or school. Coaches are expected to remove players who cannot demonstrate excellence in this very important area.
- Basketball and Volleyball athletes are not permitted by CSHSAA guidelines to compete in a club sport at the same time that they are competing in that same sport at school. This would make you ineligible for competition and cause your team to lose any wins that had been accumulated during the season.
Please note that dates and plans for Athletics are subject to change. To stay up to date, please check our website and/or social media for updates.

Fees
Each team will have fees associated with them. These fees will vary from team to team. Most team fees will cover the expenses of league play (referees, facility bookings), uniform rentals, photos, equipment, training supplies and substitute coverage costs for teachers. Higher fees are typically indicative of more out-of-town tournaments, team clothing and other team specific opportunities.
Practice and Game Schedules
Most teams are active before and/or after school, 4-5 days per week. It is a heavy but rewarding experience. Generally speaking, there will be 2-4 practices a week, 1-2 games a week, and tournaments on some weekends depending on the sport. Tryout, practice and tournament schedules will be communicated at the beginning of the season, and all game schedules for all sports are posted at Calgary High School Sports at the beginning of each season. Students should expect to travel on their own to off-site league games for most teams, but will generally travel as a team on a school bus to out-of-town tournaments.
